Andrew Haire (b.1991, Belfast, Northern Ireland) Is an Emerging artist from Northern Ireland. Through photography and painting his work explores various themes including, the sublime, contemporary landscape painting, photography and the creative process. He completed a BA Honours in Fine Art gaining first class honours from the University of Ulster (2013). In the same year He was awarded the Royal Ulster Academy Outstanding Student Award and a year’s residency at the University of Ulster. Since Graduating he has exhibited regularly including Group shows at The MAC Belfast, The Waterfront Hall, Ulster Museum, Queen Street Studios and the Engine Room Gallery. More recently he has had two solo shows, “HAZE” at The Market Place Gallery, Armagh and “Chronicle” at Ards Arts Centre in which he showed new work funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the National Lottery. As well as exhibiting he has curated shows at the Waterfront Hall, Belfast and The Market Place Gallery, Armagh. He has also appeared twice on BBC NI’S The Art Show where he discussed his artistic practice with Arts Journalist Marie Louis Muir. Over the years he has won a number of awards including Northern Ireland support for Individual artist award
(2014), 4th prize at Northern Ireland Young artist of the year (2015), Golden Thread Gallery career enhancement award (2015) and The Northdown Borough Council development award (2016).
Haire works from his studio at Project 24 in Bangor, Northern Ireland. Project 24 is a development supported by the Northern Ireland Executive which includes 12 artists’ studios, an event space and a community garden. He is based at Project 24 until spring 2017. He is in his studio most days of the week so feel free to call in to have chat and see him work. He is currently working on a new Arts Council of Northern Ireland Funded body of work. Project 24's studio open door policy gives a great chance to see how he goes from blank canvas to finished painting.
